Introduction

SYEIKH MUHAMMAD NURUDDIN MARBU
AL-BANJARI AL-MAKKI
( 1960 – PRESENT )

His full name is Tuan Guru Syeikh Muhammad Nuruddin Bin Haji Marbu Bin Abdullah Thayyib and was born in a village called Harus, Amuntai, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.

His mother's name is Hajjah Rahmah Binti Syeikh Haji Muhammad Sobri, the daughter of a prominent scholar in South Kalimantan.

Received early education in primary school in the village of Harus. Then in 1974 he studied at the Normal Islamic boarding school.

Then migrated to the holy land of Mecca by entering the Shaulathiah Madrasah until 1982.

In addition, he also attended general studies held at the Grand Mosque and also at the houses of the masyaikhs.

In 1982 he completed his studies with honors at Madrasah Shaulathiah.

In addition, he also imparted his knowledge to students from Indonesia. In 1983, he continued his studies at al-Azhar Asy Syarif University in the field of Sharia until he obtained a bachelor's degree.

Then he continued his studies at Ma'had 'Ali Liddirasat al Islamiah in Zamalik until he obtained the general diploma "Dirasat 'Ulya" in 1990.

After completing his studies at al Azhar University he concentrated on imparting his knowledge to thousands of students who came from Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand who studied at al Azhar University until he received the title of al Azharus Tsani (Azhar the Second) a nickname honorable and sincere from the al Azhar University community itself.

He held a study class named "Majlis Al-Banjari Littafaqquh Fiddin" from 1987 to 1998 which was held for the first time in Johor student houses, Penang student houses, in Kedah house halls, in Kelantan house halls and also in the Jamik mosque al Path in Madinah Nasr.

In addition to teaching, he has also produced religious books in Arabic in various fields that are widely distributed in the Middle East and also in Malaysia. It can be said that every student who studied at Al-Azhar in Egypt while he was there had gained knowledge from this scholar.

Sheikh Nuruddin has been involved in the world of writing since 1991. He has produced essays and also reviewed mu'tabar books of more than 50 essays, mostly in Arabic.
